LSI keywords may sound complicated but trust me, it isn’t. LSI keywords are keyword phrases that are similar in meaning when compared to the primary keywords.

LSI keywords are not limited to synonyms and these are keywords that are commonly found together (keywords people often searched for).

For easier understanding on what LSI keywords are, I’m taking “bikes” as the primary keyword. Here are some LSI keywords that come along with that keyword:
- Comfort bikes
- Hybrid bikes
- Mountain bikes
- info-circleTop bicycle brands
- info-circleBike size calculator
As you can see, you don’t have to write about “bikes” only and the usage of LSI keywords allow you to write about other relevant and highly related topics.

Of course, this brings us to a very interesting topic.

How do search engine algorithms know which topic you are writing about?

The answer is using sufficient LSI keywords within your article. When Google bot or other search engine crawlers crawl your site, they will look not only for the primary keywords but keywords which are related to it. Here comes the juicy part to find LSI keywords. There are four quick ways to find for LSI keywords which are:

Find LSI keywords using Google Autocomplete/Instant Search

Google autocomplete or instant search is a great way to find for LSI keywords.

To start finding LSI keywords, search for a specific keyword on Google search and a list of related keywords will be show up.

It is important to note that you should perform additional keyword research to remove unrelated keywords.

In the SEO industry, there are hundreds of SEO tools that you can use to find LSI keywords. I’m only going to share with you the tools that I personally use to find LSI keywords.

1. Google Adwords and Google Keyword Planner

Google Adwords is pretty straightforward and easy to use — even if you are not using Google Ads.

When you use Google Adwords, navigate to Google Keyword Planner to start doing your keyword research. There are two features you should put serious consideration on:
- Ad group ideas
- Keyword ideas

While it is entirely fine to use Google Adwords and Google Keyword Planner to find for LSI keywords, I got to agree that the display isn’t world class. In most cases, it can be really confusing and complicated for beginners.

Another very simple way to find for LSI keywords is by using Google Keyword Planner’s keyword ideas.

Using SEMrush, you can easily find related and LSI keywords in just a few clicks. Plus, SEMrush comes with relevancy score (in percentage) and other metrics which could be very important for your SEO campaign.

At the same time, SEMrush also provides keywords density (marked as “KD”) and it ranged from 0 to 100 (100 being the hardest to rank).

Is LSI keywords synonyms?

The answer is yes and no.

LSI keywords are and are not synonyms at the same time. As a matter of fact, they can be closely related and relevant terms to the primary keyword.

Imagine you write an article about LSI keywords (like this post) and you want to know which terms you should include in order to rank higher on Google SERPs.

Let’s run the sentence “Onpage SEO” using Keys4Up.

As you can see, LSI keywords generated from Keys4Up is decent and very limited. Of course, you can toggle between 1 word, 2 words or 3 words using Keys4Up.

Now, let’s take a second look at the results generated from SEMrush related keywords search.

Now, this is what it looks like on KWFinder.

KWFinder Review 2020 — Is KWFinder worth it?
It has been 7 months since I published this KWFinder review and I felt that there are changes done to KWFinder in terms of search engine optimization and keyword research. Recently, I published a post on “How To Do Keyword Research Fast” that covers finding profitable long tail keywords using KWFinder and Ranker Tracker.

Of course, that triggered me to update this article because we (SEO marketers) often love comparing keyword tools in search for the best keyword research tool, shorter time in finding keywords and ultimately, to rank on Google first page.

Before I get down and serious with this KWFinder review for 2018, I want to tell you that I created this article because I was sick and tired of the Internet. I couldn’t find any relevant KWFinder review that answers my question. More specifically, I found out that there wasn’t a specific guide to use KWFinder to find for profitable long tail keywords.

Don’t get me wrong. KWFinder is an excellent free keyword finder tool if you know how to use it. Using KWFinder many be tricky as it offers many stats which willaffect the way you choose your keywords to rank.

Therefore, pay close attention to these stats. Understanding the stats will help you find powerful keywords to rank fast on Google and other search engines.

These are important lingos used in common search engines. Taking time to understand these terms will help you more than just using KWFinder but your overall SEO keyword research and processes.

Here are terms you will find on KWFinder.

Suggestions. Keywords which are related to your primary keyword.

Trend. Search volume trend in the last 12 months (bar form).

Search. Average monthly search volume in the last 12 months. This stat allows you to gauge the ‘profitability’ of your keyword.

CPC. Average Cost Per Click in Google Adwords. This is how much advertisers pay on average to rank for this keyword.

PPC. Level of competition in PPC in Google Adwords. The higher the value represents the higher competition for the keyword.

KD. Overall Keyword SEO Difficulty. It is calculated asthe average Lunk Profile Strength (LPS) of URLs ranking in the 1st Google SERP. The lower the value, the easier it is for you to rank the content.

Keyword SEO Difficulty. It ranges from 0 to 100. Keywords with the value between 0 to 39 is considered very easy while the value of 40 to 54 is considered possible. Anything above 55 is considered hard and close to impossible.

Google SERP. First page results from GOogle search results page (SERP) for selected keyword. You can click ‘load more’ to load next page search results.

DA. Domain Authority (MOZ) of the URL. This value represents the strength of the selected domain to rank on the first page of Google. The higher the value, the easier it is to rank on Google.

PA. Page Authority (MOZ) of the URL. This value represents the strength of the exact URL in terms of ranking on the first of Google.

MR. MozRank of the URL. This value is provided by MOZ and it is based on a specific calculatation done by Moz to determine the URL ranking power.

MR.MozTrust in short, this value represents the trust level of the URL. The higher trust level the URL has, it will rank higher on Google search as well as being authority.

Links. The number of external authority-passing Links to the URL. KWFinder calculates the number of authority links that are providing backlink to the page. This is a smart move because anyone can use black hat SEO and blast hundreds or thousands of links to the URL.

FB. The number of Facebook shares for the selected URL.

LPS. Overall Link Proile Strength of the URL which is calculated from DA, PA, MR, MT and other metrics. I recommend you to take serious consideration on LPS for each keyword to rank faster on Google.

Est. visits. Rather straight forward, this is the expected visits each URL is getting in a month.

- checkExclude Keywords (exclude keywords of your choice)
Why do I use the above settings?

Configuring the search volume allows me to ensure that I don’t go for keywords that are too low in traffic.

On the other hand, keyword density is an important factor for ranking your content. In this case, I go for maximum of 39 because I know that small to medium blogs have high chances of ranking on first page with these keyword difficulty.

Last but not least, I prefer excluding keywords to ensure that my list is clean. I often exclude words such as “free”, “cheap” and “nulled” for starters … for obvious reasons. Again, always exclude keywords which are not relevant to you.

Here’s a little rant of mine. Too many blogs are talking about KWFinder review but no one is actually telling you HOW to find long tail keywords using KWFinder.

And I totally get it. Telling you the exact steps is like telling you the trade secret, right?

Step 1: Start keyword research using seed keyword

I cannot stress this enough but you should always start your keyword research using seed keyword. Even if you know the exact long tail keyword, you should use KWFinder by inputting in the seed keyword.

Why?

KWFinder is going to give you a large set of related keywords which are related to your seed keyword.

Before we go much deeper, allow me to share with you the search quota for each plan (including KWFinder free plan). This is important because the plan you choose will impact your keyword search results.

KWFinder pricing and features that are included

The above image shows the KWFinder pricing table. Let’s focus on the ‘Keyword Research’ in the image.

KWFinder Basic plan comes with 100 keyword lookups daily and each keyword research will generate 200 keyword suggestions. This means that you will get up to 200 related keywords based on your primary keyword!

I’m using KWFinder Premium plan with comes with 500 keyword lookups daily and up to 700 keyword suggestions per search. In other words, each search will give me 700 related keywords (most of the time are long tail keywords) and I can easily sort the long tail keywords based on profitability (average cost per click) and chance of ranking on Google first page by filtering the results.

Finding long tail keywords using KWFinder

For this KWFinder review demo, I will use a random primary keyword “recipe for toddler.”

The keyword research came back with 534 related keywords, which are related to the primary keyword. As you can see above, I am able to see the keyword difficulty score, keyword search volume and average cost per click. If you want to find for easy keywords to rank on Google SERP or Google search, make sure you play attention to the keyword SEO difficulty.

Again, I’m using KWFinder Premium plan and therefore, I will get more keywords from each keyword research. If you are using the basic plan (or the KWFinder free plan), you will get slightly lesser list of keywords.

Take a closer look on the first three rankings on Google. They have an average of 46 in Domain Authority (DA) score and they are still able to outrank the competitors. This proves that you can outrank the competitions as well through optimizing your blog and improving your content.

Plus, you will notice that the 7th and 8th Google results are taken from Pinterest. Google will only show content from social media if there are very limited quality content on the Internet. Again, this is a sign that this is an easy long tail keyword to rank for.

Another huge advantage using KWFinder is the ability to search for authority linkings. Based on SERPChecker, you will see that none of the content are having backlinks from authority sites.
