ConvertKit vs ActiveCampaign — why I switched from Active Campaign to ConvertKit?

Months back, I was using ActiveCampaign and it was pretty decent. I mean, for $9 a month for 500 email subscribers is pretty much a damn good deal.

As a matter of fact, I was happy — Email was sending out on time, and I was able to manage my email list faster and more efficient.

But something changed. I decided that I need to reduce cost (for 2018) and every bit of technology we use is rechecked to make sure we are getting the best deal.

I came across a cold and scary fact. I was spending too much on my ActiveCampaign subscription. While I was happy, I know that I’ll be happy if I’m able to save the agency some extra money.

That’s when my hunt for ActiveCampaign alternatives came into play and ultimately, I came across ConvertKit (for business and not as a blogger).

Before that, let’s get the fact right.

Both ConvertKit and ActiveCampaign are great email marketing software and I hope that this simple comparison between both of these tools will help you make your decision much easier.

ConvertKit

ConvertKit is a simple and powerful email marketing solution for serious marketers.

If I would sum what ConvertKit is all about, here’s what I think:

ConvertKit is a powerful new email service provider that provides InfusionSoft like automation capabilities without the InfusionSoft price.

Don’t get me wrong — ConvertKit is far from being a full suite email marketing solution. However, it comes with some freaking awesome features helps you manage your email subscribers easily and more effectively.

Creating an account on ConvertKit is simple (here’s the link). Right after that, I move forward to create my first email list and prepare to collect emails.

This is what it looks like.

ConvertKit is pretty sleek and creating forms is really easy. The entire process is well-thought through and seriously, it made my day!

I was thinking that it will be something really tough to start with, and I was wrong. Thankfully!

I decided to use ConvertKit because it has a drag and drop visual automation builder just like ActiveCampaign.

As said earlier, ConvertKit is not for everyone. However, if you are serious in tagging and segmenting your audience, ConvertKit is a better option compared to ActiveCampaign.

Besides that, the single biggest advantage that ConvertKit has over ActiveCampaign is simply because the pricing structure. While ConvertKit is more expensive in the entry level, ActiveCampaign costs more when you have a large email list (or require additional features). ConvertKit doesn’t charge additional for features which extremely favorable when it comes to dollar and cents.

ActiveCampaign

ActiveCampaign is an unique email marketing solution. Highly affordable, free trial and good entry level pricing makes ActiveCampaign highly sought after tool.

My first reason for choosing ActiveCampaign is because I used MailChimp for a long time. And I seriously miss their HTML template builder.

With ActiveCampaign, I have pretty similar feature and I can start creating email templates based on my needs.

The visual builder is intuitive and fun to use. As a matter of fact, I did not experience a single glitch when using ActiveCampaign!

So, what did I switched from ActiveCampaign to ConvertKit? More on this below.

Which Email Marketing Solution Is Better Than MailChimp?ConvertKit vs ActiveCampaign: Which is better?

ConvertKit offers a more all-rounder feature and pricing structure, which for me is the best choice available. Plus, it is extremely easy to scale with ConvertKit and there is migration services available (for free) when you are moving from other email providers.

ActiveCampaign works marvelously well in many parts but the downside for me is the pricing structure. To have a full suite of features, it costs way more than ConvertKit and is definitely eating up my profit margin. This is also the reason why I switched from ActiveCampaign to ConvertKit months ago.

While I have no issues with any of these site builder tools, I feel that Thrive Architect is very light and helps me focus in one particular area — converting website visitors into email subscribers.

I do, however, recommend you to go for the Pro plan if you are serious in making web designing business works for you (as a side hustle or a full-time job). Plus, the Pro plan comes with more features of Beaver Builder which you can import export designs works in just a few clicks.

How to build a WordPress page with Beaver Builder?

For this part, I’ll be reviewing Beaver Builder plugin and not the theme.

There are two ways to get started using the Beaver Builder plugin.
- Pick from one of the available page templates
- Go to your wp-admin, open any post or page (or create a new one), and select ‘Launch Beaver Builder‘ to use the page builder feature.
How To Use Beaver Builder Plugin For WordPress

You will see the above setting if you have the latest WordPress installed. Once the page builder loads, you would be able to customize the post or page in WordPress.

In the previous Beaver Builder version, you will find the Layout Templates where you can toggle the options and choose the right one based on your current needs.

Landing pages are used for marketing and sales purposes with one clear goal in mind—converting website visitors into customers or subscribers. It is also worth to note that you will find nicely labelled landing pages based on needs/purposes—templates for small businesses to fitness, and from online magazines to restaurants for example.

Content pages that come with the Beaver Builder are designed to help you create beautiful looking pages (contact us page, homepage, portfolios etc.).

The new layout and Beaver Builder version allows you to do much more (see the screenshot above) including using modules, rows, templates and saved elements.

Building a page with Beaver Builder plugin

Typically, you start building a page with a specific content structure in mind. Here’s an ugly example:

When building a WordPress page, you will have rows and columns in mind. And in each of them, you will have an idea of what type of content is in them.

You can go crazy with 3 rows, 5 columns etc. The sky is your only limit (not me, not you and certainly not the Beaver Builder plugin).

Here’s where it gets really interesting. The Beaver Builder plugin allows you to create multiple WordPress pages without a single line of code. It is all about the drag and drop, baby!

This is what I mean.

Using Beaver Builder, you can move any element across the page by dragging and releasing it at the spot of your choice. In other words, Beaver Builder’s powerful editor allows you to use different elements on any page while building your dream website design.

Pretty cool, right?

Adding rows and columns before you are able to create your page is also fairly simple. Head over to the sidebar of the Beaver Builder (seen on the side of the page) and click on the relevant option to create the elements of your choice.

What do you get when you click on each of these settings?

Row Layouts. Control the number of columns you want each row to have.

Basic Modules. Elements such as audio, buttons, heading, photos, text and videos.

Advanced Modules. Call to action buttons, accordions, contact form, maps, social media buttons etc.

WordPress Widgets. You can use any widget you have enabled on your WordPress site, and this also means that Beaver Builder works with content generated by other plugins.

Those days, I hate drag and drop editors because I will lose my content when I deactivate or delete the tool. With Beaver Builder, this is not a problem because you will never lose any of your content (even when you change the template).

The process of editing using Beaver Builder is very simple and smooth. While there are many other drag and drop WordPress editors which may create glitches when you change templates etc., you will not experience this when you use Beaver Builder.

The answer is yes and no.

LSI keywords are and are not synonyms at the same time. As a matter of fact, they can be closely related and relevant terms to the primary keyword.
