What are the best blogging tools today?

The one thing every successful blogger has is an arsenal of blogging tools. These tools are used to make sure they perform the best in crafting the best content, day in and day out. If you are just starting out with blogging, you are in for a treat.

In this article, I’m going to share with you the top blogging tools a.k.a. blogging stack that I personally use for all my blogs.

    Table of Contents

    Tools to make WordPress Better

I am a loud advocate for WordPress and this tool had helped me created dozens of websites that generated me with thousands of dollars.

New to blogging? Follow these to the “T”!

    WordPress Blogging Stack

    Thrive Architect

Blogging is all about creating awesome content that turn cold website visitors into hot leads or buyers.

I use Thrive Architect to create intuitive blog posts (not just content but layout) to ensure that my readers are always engaged!

Thrive Architect is easy to use and this tool helps you to build beautiful homepage, landing pages and blog posts without touching a single line of code (full drag and drop builder). Learn more about Thrive Architect here.

    Divi Builder

My second go-to website builder is Divi. It is highly affordable, doesn’t cost a bomb and more importantly, it comes with a lifetime license which is just too good to be true!

This is one WordPress tool that comes packing with over 500 ready-made templates—so you know that you are in good hands. Click here to learn more about Divi Builder.

    VirusDie

WordPress websites are prone to attacks and malicious code injection. The only way is to stay safe and have a good website security tool. I use VirusDie for all my blogs because it is easy to use and no plugin installation ever required. Read my VirusDie review here.

Reliable WordPress Hosting And Control Panel

Last but not least, my blogging stack includes reliable WordPress and control panel (huh?).

This blog generates over 150,000 visits in a month and I need more than just a web hosting. I use Vultr high performance VPS and as I have limited knowledge in server management, GridPane to control my VPS.

Click here to get $100 free Vultr credit and this is my review on GridPane.

If you are starting small, you don’t need to have an expensive hosting service. Shared hosting would do and with BlueHost, you can get free domain and web hosting for under $3 per month. Here’s the deal page.

    Tools To Build Landing Pages

Successful bloggers use landing pages to build an email list and to perform online sales call around the clock. Landing page can be expensive, and being a cheapskate, here are the top landing page builders you should be using.

    Tools To Build Landing Pages

    ClickFunnels

I like ClickFunnels because it is easy to use and there are tons of support (company and customer support). However, ClickFunnels is not for everyone because it starts with a large price tag of $99 per month.

If your blog is already making money, I recommend you to invest into ClickFunnels to build landing pages and funnels quickly and effectively.

    LeadPages

A great alternative to ClickFunnels is LeadPages. LeadPages help you build landing pages quickly and using an intuitive drag and drop builder.

The only difference about LeadPages is that it doesn’t come with a funnel builder. Nonetheless, this is one of the cheapest (and most popular) landing page builder for WordPress. Click here to learn more about LeadPages.

    GetResponse

GetResponse started the whole funnel and landing page builder pretty late in the industry (around 2018). I’m currently using GetResponse because it offers all of these under one roof:

    • Landing page builder
    • Email list builder
    • Autoresponder
    • Funnel building
    • Webinar software

If you are looking for value-for-money type of landing page builder, GetResponse is not only the cheapest but it is also the most feature pack one. Try GetResponse for free (or try their demo here).

Tools To Make Blog Content Better

Last in my blogging stack are the tools I use to craft better content. The better your content are, the better the chances are you to get more traffic, making more money and ultimately, sales conversion.

Blogging Stack To Make Blog Content Better

    Grammarly

I craft all my blog posts on Google Drive because it gives me flexibility to edit and add more content on the go. However, working on the go has its own disadvantages—including doing grammatical mistakes.

For this, Grammarly is my go-to blogging stack that I dearly love. If you want to become a strong blogger, this is one tool you need to have in your arsenal. Click here to get Grammarly for free today (premium plans available too).

    Rank Math SEO Plugin

Getting your blog post written correctly is one thing—having the right SEO structure is another. With Rank Math SEO plugin, you can easily optimize the blog post to send the right signals to Google for better ranking.

The best part? Rank Math is absolutely free to use! Download it here.

    Headline Analyzer

You may spend 48 hours to craft the best content, but if you are not spending enough time with crafting an emotional headline, your content will not get much clicks.

I use Headline Analyzer by Advanced Marketing Institute to check on my headline score. It’s free to use and I recommend you to use it right now (to get more clicks to your blog post).

Tools To Help You Build An Email List

Here’s a little secret. My blogging stack includes email marketing strategies and tools. Why?

Having an email list helps me to promote timely blog posts, promotions and even drive my sales up by multiple folds. It certainly takes time to build, but it is by far the best value for money strategy for bloggers around the world.

Blogging Stack To Build An Emal List

    OptinMonster

Turning your website visitors into email subscribers is tough. With OptinMonster’s ready-made templates, all heavy lifting is done for you.

As an email list builder, OptinMonster is not the cheapest in the market. However, this is by far the best tool that successfully helped me build an email list with over 100,000 subscribers. Here’s a free OptinMonster demo for you to check out.

    Thrive Leads

“Reg, OptinMonster is just too expensive for me! What are the alternatives?”

Don’t worry, I hear you loud and clear.

If budget is an issue, Thrive Leads is your go-to email marketing tool. With a one-time payment for a lifetime updates and access, this is an absolute no brainer for bloggers around the world.

Want to know an advocate for Thrive Leads? John Lee Dumas from Entrepreneur On Fire!

Don’t wait. Check out Thrive Leads here.

    GetResponse

Where is the best place to host an email list? My favorite spot is GetResponse. It works well for affiliate marketers and it doesn’t shut you down for no reasons (like what its competitor does).

GetResponse comes with a wide range of tools including:

    • Email marketing
    • Autoresponder
    • Landing pages
    • Funnel builders
    • Webinar software

Not bad. You should check it out here.

    AWeber

If you are looking for a simple email marketing software that doesn’t suck, AWeber is here to save the day.

AWeber offers good delivery rates, intuitive drag and drop builder and comes with around the clock support.

Plus, did I tell you that AWeber only costs $19 per month? Click here to try AWeber for 30 days (no credit card required)!

    Recap On My Blogging Stack

The right blogging stack will help you become a better and more productive blogger.

Not only it helps to speed up content creation, it ensures that your hard work pays off with better ranking and opportunities to make money.

What is your blogging stack? Leave a comment and tell me all about it!

GridPane Review: The Great And The Ugly

When I first heard about GridPane, I had my FOMO ringing. As a tech geek and passionate in WordPress hosting, I know that I’m going to try out GridPane. I ended up getting GridPane and Vultr VPS during the movement control in Malaysia due to Covid-19 outbreak.

This is my honest GridPane review and I hope you find this useful.

    Powerful Website Control For WordPress

If you are looking for superior power, performance and flexibility, GridPane is the best option for you and your business.

    See GridPane In Action Here

    What is GridPane?

GridPane is a server management tool for WordPress (I thought it was a managed hosting before diving deep int9o GridPane). There are mixed reviews about GridPane but I read enough on reviews to know that GridPane is something I need to try out.

At this point of writing, it is important for me to state that this website is currently hosted on GridPane and Vultr VPS

My current web host was okay, but I wanted more firepower. I wanted a faster website!

Here’s how it looks like before migrating over to GridPage.

Speed Performance Before Migrating To GridPane

With LiteSpeed cache turned on, I could hit around 800ms for servers like San Francisco. The rest, I’m well below the 1.8 second mark on average. Yes, I was on a shared hosting with dedicated CPU and RAM (okay, WTF?).

This is how it looks like after migrating to GridPage and Vultr VPS.

Speed Performance After Migrating To GridPane

On average, my site loads faster in nearly every country, especially with the Connect and TTFB (time to first byte).

    GridPane Features Review

Let’s start the GridPane review with the features. As you can see, GridPane is a WordPress hosting control panel that allows you to manage your WordPress websites like a professional (without any server management knowledge).

    GridPane Is Lightning Fast

The GridPane server stack is incredibly performant and optimized for whatever you can throw at it. Most hosting companies including managed WordPress hosting services require you to install a cache plugin or some level of advanced tweaking to speed up your website. With GridPane, that is never the case (even though a little tweakings are welcome).

Take a look at this (screenshot from one of the GridPane’s customers): Source

    Pingdom Waterfall Using Gridpane

GridPane focused on making your VPS powerful by leveraging the overall settings and performance—so that your website loads faster and you can focus on your business.

GridPane Ability To Handle Large Concurrent Users Simultaneously

I remember Siteground shutting down my GoGeek hosting account due to massive activity. With GridPane, I know that my website is hosted on a service that truly cares.

GridPane Review On Handling Concurrent Users

The guys over at GridPane regularly test provisioned VPS servers to handle 5,000 concurrent users or more, without ever skipping a beat.

Setup A New Site On GridPage In Just 3 Clicks

This is kinda true (more on this below). GridPane allows you to create a brand new WordPress website in just 3-clicks. Yes, no more crazy coding and complicated cPanel/Plesk settings.

Launch A WordPress Site With GridPane In 3 Clicks

For intuitive and ease of launching a WordPress site score, GridPane scores pretty close to perfect score right here.

    GridPane Snapshot Failover For High-Availability

For heavy traffic websites, keeping your website running at its peak can be a challenging task. With GridPane Snapshot Failover, it takes a full backup of all your sites and clones those snapshots over to a redundant backup server. In other words, your website will never go down (in the eyes of your visitors and competitors).

    Snapshot Failover GridPane Review

More importantly, you don’t have to worry about spending tons of money to get your website up and running with this backup feature. GridPane Snapshot Failover is amazingly affordable even for bloggers and Internet Marketers.

    GridPane Backup Feature

    GridPane Backup Feature

This is one of the coolest features in GridPane. Made a mistake? You can now rollback the backup either 12, 24 hours or more in just a few clicks. You can also opt for extensive options for remote backups, covering every major third party cloud provider you can think of.

GridPane Works Well With Most VPS Providers

    Provisioning A Server With Gridpane

GridPane is a WordPress control panel and it works with a wide range of VPS including Vultr, Digital Ocean, Linode and Amazon LightSail. It is easy to integrate the VPS into GridPane and this is done through API.

    GridPane Staging Feature

    GridPane Staging

It is easy to push live to staging, and staging to live site with GridPane.

When I was migrating my site to GridPane, it was really tough since my site database is over 5GB in space. I ended up migrating using Migrate Guru plugin and set the destination as my staging site.

    GridPane Pricing Review

GridPane comes with three simple pricing—Pro, Developer and Enterprise.

Pro is the lowest tier which provides pretty decent features for unlimited WordPress website management. In terms of security, it comes with 6G Web Application Firewall which is also an added advantage (even for the lowest tier). GridPane Pro plan costs $30 per month.

Developer is the second tier and probably one of the most popular ones in the market. Four important features found in Developer plan but not Pro plan are:

    • DNS Service Integrations
    • Malware Scanner
    • Snapshot Failover
    • High Availability (Optional)

Plus, clients in the Developer plan are given priority chat support over the Pro account. GridPane Developer plan costs $100 per month for unlimited website management.

Enterprise is the highest tier for GridPane. This is best for agencies who are offering top notch website hosting and development. This is the only GridPane plan that comes with Whitelabeling which is crucial for agencies to operate. This plan comes with Private Managed Instance for those who want to have more customization to their VPS hosting environment. GridPane Enterprise plan starts at $1000 or more per month depending on the custom requirements.

    Does GridPane Offer Free Plan?

As a matter of fact, it does. GridPane free plan allows you to manage 1 server and up to 10 websites under one account. The downside, it doesn’t come with server management perks and features.

    My Personal Review on GridPane

I started GridPane on the wrong foot. Like seriously!

I jumped right into GridPane without preparing much on GridPane migration. Well, it is said to be a 3-click WordPress setup, right?

Using Cloudways for some good years, I thought how hard that would be right? And yes, my confidence level skyrocketed and I was putting a 4 hours work into the migration at most (at least, that was what I’d initially planned).

I was lost in the midst of the migration (okay, my site is like 5 GB in database size) and I tried everything, from download the backed up file to using All In One WordPress Migration plugin which was highly recommended by GridPane.

    Sounds good, right? Not quite.

The migration plugin failed me 5 times (there goes 3 hours) and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. So, I headed over to the support and they told me to refer to the knowledge based for help. At this moment, I went “WTF.”

I suck it up and went through the KB again (mind you, I was reading the knowledge based before reaching out to the support).

I explained my scenario to the support and suddenly, a second support came in and say that the previous support will be assigned to a more important task but they had converted my chat into an email for them to follow up. He recommended me to continue reading the KB and reply to the email. I could continue with the live chat but, it might not be responded that fast.

Here’s the point where I was like “Okay, I’m going to get a refund.” Period.

You see, I’m not going to give up because the migration processes failed. I was determined to work it out.

Fast forward 12 hours into the migration, I decided to use Migrate Guru which I really love (by the way). Again, I encountered some issues because I was just too tired and couldn’t figure out the directory address (okay, lol).

I hit the chat again, hoping to meet someone who can really help me out. Bobby came into the chat and he listened (finally!).

    The rest was history.

Here’s what I can tell you.

GridPane is a good WordPress control panel which I kinda love (for now). Of course, no support team is perfect but it certainly sucks when the first two who responded to me aren’t really helping.

GridPane Review: Do I recommend GridPane?

Absolutely, for performance. This website is powered by Thrive Architect, Elementor and Divi Builder—all under one roof. With the most powerful managed WordPress hosting, my backend still lags pretty bad!

After migrating my site to GridPane and Vultr, everything loads super fast on the backend. Based on my experience, everything that loads fast in the back will load even better and faster in the front!

In terms of customer support, I would give them a moderate score because I felt that could do better. The way they perform felt rather ‘cheap’ because GridPane isn’t really cheap compared to others. At times, Siteground hosting support does a way better job than what they do!

Finally, in terms of pricing, I wish the price could be lower! After all, most of us are freelance and we want to make the best value from our investment.

I hope you find this GridPane review useful and tell me if you have any thoughts on this!

How To Fix Elementor Not Loading?

    Elementor is not loading! #OMG

It sucks. Elementor is not loading and for one, I’m pissed. I know exactly how you feel.

In this post, I will share with you some quick fixes for Elementor not loading.

    Table of Contents

What Are The Signs That Elementor Is Not Loading?

Elementor is one of the best WordPress builders in the market. But it is no bulletproof to problems such as visual builder not loading properly.

You need to fix Elementor quickly because you have website development job to complete. So, how do you fix this problem?

Take a look at the image below.

    Elementor Not Loading Properly

    Does this looks familiar?

Elementor is one of the best WordPress builders in the market. But it is no bulletproof to problems such as visual builder not loading properly.

You need to fix Elementor quickly because you have website development job to complete. So, how do you fix this problem?

There are two ways you can fix Elementor not loading properly issue.

First: Wait for new updates from Elementor

The best way (if time is not a factor) is to wait for Elementor to update its core files. At times, the development team might have overlooked on some files which make Elementor not loading in the backend.

There is also the possibility that you have not updated to the latest version. Thus, keeping your Elementor updated to the latest version is critical.

This is how you keep your Elementor plugins updated.

WordPress dashboard » Updates » Check for updates

    Second: Update Elementor files

The second method is slightly unconventional but I found this solution in Github (source).

At times, there might be some files missing when downloading and uploading Elementor. When this happens, Elementor will stop loading and you cannot use Elementor.

How To Fix Elementor Not Loading Properly

How to solve Elementor not loading?

Head over to your WordPress dashboard » Elementor » Tools » Regenerate CSS (click Regenerate Files) » Sync Library (click Sync Library)

Wait for the update to be done and clear your cache before reloading Elementor visual builder.

In layman’s terms, both of these steps will download all the important Elementor files and hopefully, they include the files that are missing which is making Elementor not loading.

Summary: How To Solve Elementor Not Loading

I hope you find the above tips useful in fixing your Elementor not loading issue. If you need help, tell me in the comments below and I’m happy to see how I can help you further!

How To Get Work Done While Working At Home?

Most of us are expecting even more government lockdowns and border closures in the coming weeks—if we are unable to contain the Covid-19 spread. For freelancers like us, the feeling of lockdown isn’t really impacting us, since we are used to be working from home all the time.

But regardless how prepared we are, we cannot control the environment and it is common for us to feel vulnerable, worried and above everything, not productive.

What you will find next are some of the best tricks I use to get shit done while working from home.

Top Business Ideas You Can Do From Home

Let’s make this year a year for making money with these awesome small business ideas.

    Tell Me More

Keep a set schedule and find time for breaks

The most important part about getting things done while working from home is having a schedule. A schedule can be many things (depending on your liking and preferences).

For me, my schedule is divided into morning, afternoon and night routines—each one ‘set’ consists of working, networking, taking breaks, moving around, working out and spending time with my wife and two kids.

Build A Schedule When Working At Home

Working from home means I am always accessible to my laptop, thus my homepage is Google Keep. It is free to use, easy to navigate and plainly simple to get all my tasks done on time.

I also know many other bloggers who use Evernote and Trello for their daily to-do list (which work well too).

    Keep your furry friends busy

For you who have pet(s) at home, you know exactly what I mean!

They need our attention and it is important to spend some time with them daily too.

Having them is good for companion but they can be a huge distraction.

When I write, I need to be in absolute quiet mode. A little noise will sway away my idea and mood—affecting the quality of my writing.

Take care of yourself and be mindful of your mental health

I used to work 5 hours in a row without any breaks in the middle and I noticed that I am less productive that way. The right way is to take a break once every 2 or 3 hours of work.

Working from home can be a little quiet because it is always you and the laptop. Therefore, use the breaks in between to communicate with your housemates, spouse, kids or even do a simple Facebook/YouTube live!

Mingling around after hard work will bring you back to track and feeling lively.

Every night, I spend a full hour reading to get new ideas and to relax my mind. Click here to get some of the best books (that I personally love) on Amazon.

Strictly No Social Media During Work

Social media is one of the biggest distractions for me. When I work, I turn off or close any possible connections with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.).

When I exclude social media in my work, I noticed that I’m more focused on my work and I am able to concentrate better too (no distraction from the notifications).

Avoid Social Media When Working From Home

Typically, I use the old-school way where I turn off my phone or close any browser related to social media.

You may also use these tools to help you to get more work done when working from home:

    Clarity And Persistent

If you want to earn money online and work from home, you need to have both clarity and persistence.

    Wait, what does this means?

Remember the part about having a schedule?

Clarity means that you know exactly what needed to be done for the day (which you had outlined them in the to-do list).

Persistent means that there will be many distractions that will sway you away from completing the job at home.

    Clarity And Persistent

If you want to get shit done while working at home, you need to make sure that you complete all the tasks given in a single day without bringing them forward to the next day.

    Make no mistake.

It is okay to bring forward some tasks to the next day if you are feeling unwell (for example), but having too many of these will train your mind that “it is okay NOT to complete the work on time”.

Get Help To Get Job Done

Most freelancers who work from home will feel that they are alone fighting the never-ending battle.

What they didn’t know is that help is always just one step away.

Help comes in many forms and for me, help means getting the right motivation to keep moving forward even when the odds are against me.

    Getting Help

For me, I use a mixture of videos and books to keep myself motivated throughout the day.

Here are some of the best videos and books you should be watching and reading today:

    Excellent Motivational Videos

Books That Will Change Your Freelance Career

Summary: How To Get More Things Done While Working From Home?

Let me remind you that there will always be challenges and distractions when you decide to work from home (especially with the Covid-19 world issue).

There are many productivity hacks that you can practise, including the above ones to ensure that you are working at your level best.

With this, I hope that you are taking care of yourself from the deadly virus (Covid-19) and at the same time, making enough money to sustain!

    Choosing A WordPress Visual Editor

Are you using a WordPress visual editor? In this post, I’m going to share with you why I use Elementor for all my client’s website (even this website) and why I recommend you to get Elementor.

But before that, here’s a little story line about me.

My entire entrepreneurship journey circles around WordPress, WordPress and even more WordPress. I manage several blogs and my clients websites. Gutenberg editor is good, but I find it not intuitive enough for me to build WordPress blog, landing pages and overall WordPress design quickly enough. Therefore, choosing a WordPress visual editor is an important step for me to ensure my website development project turns out well and correctly.

    Developer’s Choice: Elementor

Elementor is a powerful WordPress theme builder that allows you to create beautiful WordPress themes without coding skills.

When it comes to website development, the ability to churn out websites fast and effective is crucial for success. Sure, you have seen me talking about Oxygen Builder and how much I love it. Personally, Oxygen is much more a good fit for new website and not when you are trying to migrate an existing website to Oxygen.

On the other hand, Elementor is a much fluid WordPress editor that doesn’t suck. It is easy to use and makes website development way much easier.

Carry on reading below to learn more about Elementor (and maybe, you might even start loving Elementor too)!

    Introduction To Elementor Builder

    What Elementor Theme Builder

Until date, Elementor is the only FREE WordPress builder that is really powerful. This free WordPress builder plugin has over 1 million active downloads.

What makes Elementor so powerful and in demand is simply because it’s basic version (free version) is pretty much complete for you to run the entire website development without requiring to purchase the Pro version.

Added with the various Elementor addons available in the WordPress repository, the customization that you can do is close to unlimited.

Here are some of the best advantages using Elementor today.

What Are The Advantages Using Elementor?

I used dozens of WordPress drag and drop builders in the past (since 2004), including big names such as Thrive Architect and Divi Builder. But Elementor is different.

Building a website design especially without coding skills is freaking challenging. Plus, making a blog post less boring is like an uphill challenge.

If you are designing a homepage or a website design, Elementor comes with ready-made and beautiful elements that you can use to further enrich the page. Take a look at my homepage which is created using Elementor.

If you are designing a blog post, Elementor comes with different elements that you can use to turn a boring post into an interesting one. You can even use Elementor to style the blog post to make it stand out from the crowd.

These are some of the elements in the free Elementor builder plugin:

    Elementor Compatibility

As a WordPress website owner, one of the most annoying thing that can happen after installing a plugin or theme is your website goes into error.

When this happens, it points pretty close to compatibility issue between a new theme or plugin you had installed.

    Here’s the good news.

Elementor is compatible with the majority of the themes and plugins in the market. This means that the chances for you to encounter issues using Elementor is pretty close to none.

Elementor allows me to design beautiful and high converting websites WITHOUT having any coding knowledge and zero worries about any compatibility issue with other themes and plugins.

    Elementor Free Vs Elementor Pro

I get this question all the time (I even ponder on this question long enough).

Elementor is a freemium WordPress builder. But, do I really need Elementor Pro?

Mind you, there are many free Elementor addons in the market that you can download and install for free.

    So, what about Elementor Pro?

I got myself Elementor Pro because:

    • Count less on 3rd party tools (sticking to original)
    • Affordable pricing (costs only $49 per year, per website)
    • 50+ pro widgets
    • 300+ pro templates

As a freelance website developer, speed is all about being efficient. Elementor allows me to design a website from scratch quickly.

Instead of messing around with CSS and HTML (I really, really hate that), I use Elementor Pro widget to help me design quickly and beautifully without any coding skills.

At the same time, Elementor comes with Theme Style. With just a few clicks of the button, I can change the entire website style with Elementor (instead of going into each page to do the changes).

In order for you to use Elementor Theme Style, head over to Elementor > Settings > Enable checkboxes for Disable Default Colors and Disable Default Fonts > Click on the hamburger setting in Elementor visual builder > Select Theme Style.

How To Use Elementor Theme Style

    Crowd’s Favorite: Elementor

Elementor is popular, and it is one of the best WordPress builder tools that you should be using in 2020.

If you are serious in building beautiful WordPress websites, I recommend you to use Elementor today.
