It has been 7 months since I published this KWFinder review and I felt that there are changes done to KWFinder in terms of search engine optimization and keyword research. Of course, that triggered me to update this article because we (SEO marketers) often love comparing keyword tools in search for the best keyword research tool, shorter time in finding keywords and ultimately, to rank on Google first page.
Before I get down and serious with this KWFinder review for 2018, I want to tell you that I created this article because I was sick and tired of the Internet. I couldn’t find any relevant KWFinder review that answers my question. More specifically, I found out that there wasn’t a specific guide to use KWFinder to find for profitable long tail keywords.
Don’t get me wrong. KWFinder is a wonderful keyword research tool (or keyword planner tool as some of us call it). However, it also have weaknesses which I’ll cover in this KWFinder review.
KWFinder comes with a free plan (with limited usages which you can sign up here) or paid plans. I decided to sign up for a paid KWFinder plan as I felt it is the best based on my usage. If you are wondering, I am a SEO consultant and doing keyword research is definitely one of things I do every day.
In this review article, I am doing to dive deep into KWFinder keyword research tool to determine how KWFinder works, how to use KWFinder to find for long tail keywords and how using KWFinder can help you in the search engine ranking and ultimately, helping you to rank higher on Google.

KWFinder is one of the best keyword research tool that helps you to find long tail keywords with ease. You may compare KWFinder to other keyword tools such as Ahrefs, Rank Tracker and SEMrush to replace Google keyword tool (which we know that it no longer provide valuable information).

Step 3: KWFinder stats and keyword results
KWFinder is an excellent free keyword finder tool if you know how to use it. Using KWFinder many be tricky as it offers many stats which willaffect the way you choose your keywords to rank.
Therefore, pay close attention to these stats. Understanding the stats will help you find powerful keywords to rank fast on Google and other search engines.
These are important lingos used in common search engines. Taking time to understand these terms will help you more than just using KWFinder but your overall SEO keyword research and processes.
Here are terms you will find on KWFinder.
Suggestions. Keywords which are related to your primary keyword.
Trend. Search volume trend in the last 12 months (bar form).
Search. Average monthly search volume in the last 12 months. This stat allows you to gauge the ‘profitability’ of your keyword.
CPC. Average Cost Per Click in Google Adwords. This is how much advertisers pay on average to rank for this keyword.
PPC. Level of competition in PPC in Google Adwords. The higher the value represents the higher competition for the keyword.
KD. Overall Keyword SEO Difficulty. It is calculated asthe average Lunk Profile Strength (LPS) of URLs ranking in the 1st Google SERP. The lower the value, the easier it is for you to rank the content.
Keyword SEO Difficulty. It ranges from 0 to 100. Keywords with the value between 0 to 39 is considered very easy while the value of 40 to 54 is considered possible. Anything above 55 is considered hard and close to impossible.
Google SERP. First page results from GOogle search results page (SERP) for selected keyword. You can click ‘load more’ to load next page search results.
DA. Domain Authority (MOZ) of the URL. This value represents the strength of the selected domain to rank on the first page of Google. The higher the value, the easier it is to rank on Google.
PA. Page Authority (MOZ) of the URL. This value represents the strength of the exact URL in terms of ranking on the first of Google.
MR. MozRank of the URL. This value is provided by MOZ and it is based on a specific calculatation done by Moz to determine the URL ranking power.
MR.MozTrust in short, this value represents the trust level of the URL. The higher trust level the URL has, it will rank higher on Google search as well as being authority.
Links. The number of external authority-passing Links to the URL. KWFinder calculates the number of authority links that are providing backlink to the page. This is a smart move because anyone can use black hat SEO and blast hundreds or thousands of links to the URL.
FB. The number of Facebook shares for the selected URL.
LPS. Overall Link Proile Strength of the URL which is calculated from DA, PA, MR, MT and other metrics. I recommend you to take serious consideration on LPS for each keyword to rank faster on Google.
Est. visits. Rather straight forward, this is the expected visits each URL is getting in a month.

Step 4: Use the ‘Results Filter’ feature
It would take less than 5 seconds for you to get a long list of related keywords result after the search. Now, the next step is to use the ‘Results Filter’ to find for the most profitable long tail keywords.
How to find profitable long tail keywords using KWFinder?
There are many opinions on this (if you compare this KWFinder review with other blogs) but I find out that the best setting are as follow:
- checkSearch volume (MIN 200)
- checkKeyword Difficulty (MAX 39)
- checkExclude Keywords (exclude keywords of your choice)
Why do I use the above settings?
Configuring the search volume allows me to ensure that I don’t go for keywords that are too low in traffic.
On the other hand, keyword density is an important factor for ranking your content. In this case, I go for maximum of 39 because I know that small to medium blogs have high chances of ranking on first page with these keyword difficulty.
Last but not least, I prefer excluding keywords to ensure that my list is clean. I often exclude words such as “free”, “cheap” and “nulled” for starters … for obvious reasons. Again, always exclude keywords which are not relevant to you.

KWFinder Review: How to find long tail keywords using KWFinder
This KWFinder review will not be complete WITHOUT telling you how to find long tail keywords using this SEO research tool.
Here’s a little rant of mine. Too many blogs are talking about KWFinder review but no one is actually telling you HOW to find long tail keywords using KWFinder.
And I totally get it. Telling you the exact steps is like telling you the trade secret, right?
Don’t worry, I’m going to tell you how you can search for long tail keywords using KWFinder in this KWFinder review.
For the record, KWFinder is one of the best free keyword research tool for bloggers and marketers who are just trying out SEO. Even the entry level plan for KWFinder is extremely affordable to say the very least.

Step 1: Start keyword research using seed keyword
I cannot stress this enough but you should always start your keyword research using seed keyword. Even if you know the exact long tail keyword, you should use KWFinder by inputting in the seed keyword.
Why?
KWFinder is going to give you a large set of related keywords which are related to your seed keyword.
Before we go much deeper, allow me to share with you the search quota for each plan (including KWFinder free plan). This is important because the plan you choose will impact your keyword search results.
KWFinder pricing and features that are included
The above image shows the KWFinder pricing table. Let’s focus on the ‘Keyword Research’ in the image.
KWFinder Basic plan comes with 100 keyword lookups daily and each keyword research will generate 200 keyword suggestions. This means that you will get up to 200 related keywords based on your primary keyword!
I’m using KWFinder Premium plan with comes with 500 keyword lookups daily and up to 700 keyword suggestions per search. In other words, each search will give me 700 related keywords (most of the time are long tail keywords) and I can easily sort the long tail keywords based on profitability (average cost per click) and chance of ranking on Google first page by filtering the results.
Finding long tail keywords using KWFinder
For this KWFinder review demo, I will use a random primary keyword “recipe for toddler.”
The keyword research came back with 534 related keywords, which are related to the primary keyword. As you can see above, I am able to see the keyword difficulty score, keyword search volume and average cost per click. If you want to find for easy keywords to rank on Google SERP or Google search, make sure you play attention to the keyword SEO difficulty.
Again, I’m using KWFinder Premium plan and therefore, I will get more keywords from each keyword research. If you are using the basic plan (or the KWFinder free plan), you will get slightly lesser list of keywords.
Step 2: Finding keywords to rank by filtering the keyword suggestions
Filtering results on KWFinder gives you more precise list of keywords
The next step is to filter the search results based on your requirements.
KWFinder is more than just a keyword finder tool. When compared to other SEO keyword research tool such as Long Tail Pro, KWFinder offers more features as a keyword finder software. For example, the filtering feature allows you to minimize the search results and reduce the list of keywords to a much smaller one – focusing on finding long tail keywords that are easy to rank for.
Upon successful filtering, you will see the keyword results is minimized to a smaller list of 235 long tail keywords which are highly targeted, long tail keywords and having super low competition!
Step 3: Analyze each long tail keyword using SERPChecker by KWFinder
Here’s what I can tell you. Many bloggers do this mistake by stopping the keyword research right after the second step. You should continue your keyword analysis to find for keywords that are low competition and easy to rank on Google.
This step requires you to do keyword analysis (no longer keyword research) to determine the best long tail keywords which you can easily rank on Google.

I sorted the results by toggling on the KD (keyword difficulty) column. I decided to go with the keyword “healthy breakfast ideas for toddlers” which I felt it has a good keyword search volume and low keyword difficulty score. More importantly, if I’m starting a blog related to this topic, the average cost per click is very healthy and I could leverage a lot using Google Adsense.
On the right side of the screen, you will see several stats, including the top 10 results on Google.
Click on the Analyze SERP button which is found on the bottom right of the screen.

This keyword analysis will provide you a long list (table form) as seen above. Green colour represents easy to rank while red colour shows challenging or close to impossible to rank. The colour changes based on the keyword difficulty score.
Take a closer look on the first three rankings on Google. They have an average of 46 in Domain Authority (DA) score and they are still able to outrank the competitors. This proves that you can outrank the competitions as well through optimizing your blog and improving your content.
Plus, you will notice that the 7th and 8th Google results are taken from Pinterest. Google will only show content from social media if there are very limited quality content on the Internet. Again, this is a sign that this is an easy long tail keyword to rank for.
Another huge advantage using KWFinder is the ability to search for authority linkings. Based on SERPChecker, you will see that none of the content are having backlinks from authority sites. Therefore, this is another important criteria when using KWFinder to find long tail keywords and rank these keywords on Google search.

Step 4: Craft and publish the best content

While keyword research is critical, you have to remember to optimize the content as much as possible to send the right signals to search engines to start crawling your site.
In order to create a content that ranks on the first page of Google, you should:
