To Start With, What is Social Media Security?

The success of social media is something that can’t be negated, they offer lots of benefits to people who want to communicate with friends or family members without wasting any money or simply are looking for some entertainment that can be obtained in sites like YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, etc, sadly, all of this has a big problem, if there are more people with social media profiles, then there are going to be more cases of cyber bullying, stalkers and people who only want to destroy the life of someone.

However, there is something called “Social Media Security” which is, in simple terms, all the precautions that you as a person is going to have with the purpose of avoiding any of the previous problems that affect a lot of people in the current days, and the best part of it is the fact that you’ll have a lot of ways to protect yourself against bad people that are looking for potential victims in social media, the only necessary thing to do, is following the next tips or strategies that professionals in online security recommends.

Avoid Unnecessary Personal Information on Social Media Profiles:

The main reason why people get attacked on the internet is posting a lot of personal information to the public eye, vital information like personal emails, details about your passwords, data of bank accounts or payment information shouldn’t be exposed to everyone, because with that, you’re going to be very vulnerable against scammers or stalkers that can track your house or get access to private information.

Social media like Instagram or Snapchat become famous for the main feature: photos and videos of people’s life or routine, and this is something very dangerous to do for all the negative effects that those photos can have in your life, for example, you recently posted a photo about your new house or car, that is all the information that hackers need to track the street in which you’re going to live, and that information can end in the hand of very bad people, so, make sure that you have more care in your photos and never reveal something important like locations or directions.

Do not Click on Strange Links:

Internet is full of different websites or blogs that you can visit to get information about something in specific, and you surely are going to find lots of strange links, it’s very important to avoid them at any cost because they are the best way of getting your PC, phone or laptop infested of malware that can either destroy or reveal your data.

With the pass of the years, this has become one of the most common ways to get hacked for the way that these strange links works, one of the most common examples of this are the website that exclaims a message like “congratulations you have won a new phone, click on this link to see all the details” well, this is a very obvious Internet scam, however, some people end clicking on the link, which redirects them to a different site that can end downloading mysterious files that later transform into malware, and the result will be really bad, so, please never use this unknown links and never believe on what strange people say on social media.

Do not Answer Emails from Strange Accounts:

Our parents always told us that “we never should talk to strangers” well, this case is very similar, if, for any reason, an unknown person tries to establish any type of communication with you via email, you can do some things, first ignore them, no ones knows what is their motive and most importantly how they even get your email? So it’s better to ignore the message, and if the stranger continues, then you should head to any police station and talk about your case, it can be a stalker of something much worse.

The second option is to look for information about the person or company who is trying to contact you, first, see the name of the person who wrote the email, then search him on sites like Spokeo that allows you to identify people by only inserting their name on the browser, depending on what you get, the decision is yours.

Make Sure to Close Your Profile:

In these actual days, social media offers you the possibility of “closing your profile” or go private, which is in simple terms, denying access to your posts or photos to any person that you are not friends with.

This is so useful when it comes to the protection of data because you decide who can see your post and that’s wonderful. Another important action to take about closing your profile is when you’re using any social media in a device that is not yours or in public PCs, no matter what, make sure that when you’re done, end the session and never leave your profile open, if this is not done, then it’s very probable that you become a victim of hackers which can result in various bad things like losing your account due to the change of the password.

Never Mention Locations or Directions of Important Places:

If the previous tips were important, then this is vital! It’s impossible to tell all the possible things that a bad person can do with locations that are very close to you like the place where you and your parents live.

Avoid at any cost posting photos of location or hints of where you live because you can become a victim of blackmailing or stalking. There is no need to give such important data to unknown people in social media, however, you are free to do it if you have your profile protected or private, which means that only people close to you can see that information.

Sadly, this is one of the ways that stalkers attacks, they search for people who post their location in any social media to start their malevolous plan, make sure that you don’t become one of those victims.

Use Spokeo while Shopping on Social Networks:

Interested in buying something on online stores that are not certified? Then you should use something that can provide you information about the owners or the sellers of the website, we’re talking about Spokeo reverse phone lookup, with it you could know pretty much anything about a person that you don’t even know by establishing a phone number search that works with only the phone number of the person that you’ll like to know more and then.

Spokeo would search for the owner of that number, later with all the information that you have obtained, it’s possible to determine if the person can be trusted or not, this way, you can feel more relaxed while shopping in not certified stores because, if you got scammed then you’ll know about who’s responsible for it to later take legal actions against that person.

  • How To Market On Facebook As A Small Business

How To Market On Facebook As A Small Business

You have definitely heard about Facebook and the number of people who spend their time there every single day. Well, it means that it is a perfect place to get your marketing done.

However, things are not that simple.

As you have probably expected, even something like social media requires a lot of understanding, especially once you start to put some money into it. Of course, the more time you spend on it and learn, it becomes clearer. And since everybody has to start from somewhere, this article is a perfect place to begin your journey.

    Start with the Profile

Every Facebook page needs to have an optimized profile. This becomes even more important when you are running a business. Everyone usually starts with a profile picture and the cover.

After that, be sure to fill in all the blank information on the business page, such as the website, location, working hours, and so on. The more effort you put into it, the more professional everything looks.

    Content with Intent

When you start posting, make sure that it is not some random text that makes no sense or serves no purpose. Every single message that you share with your followers needs to have a meaning behind it.

Moreover, there will come a time when you will have to boost these posts with money to reach more people. The sooner you become accustomed to such content, the better.

    Insights

Understanding the demographics and whether your fans are truly the ones that would be interested in the business is important.

Luckily, Facebook has its own version of insights, and it provides all the information that the page owner would like.

Taking notes every day is probably overdoing it, but you should at least keep up with what is happening at least every week or so.

    Schedule the Posts

Depending on what time you post, you can expect more or less engagement. These things take time to test.

Do not expect to make a conclusion in a week’s time since the difference between posting on weekdays and weekends is also there.

Automation tools are perfect if you want to try a timeframe that would be impossible to check otherwise.

    Facebook Stories

Facebook has recently introduced a new feature of stories. It serves as a way to diversify the content and share more trivial things with your followers. Of course, it serves more if you are trying to run a marketing campaign.

It is worth checking out the Facebook Stories: The Complete Guide for Businesses in 2019 on Oberlo’s website. It has all the information every business owner needs.

    Encourage Your Audience to Join

This serves two purposes. One is to get a stronger relationship with your followers, and the second one is having a different type of content to post.

The whole thing is pretty simple. Announce that you will share a picture that they take, an article that they will write, a video that they will make, and so on. Such incentives do wonders if you want to stand out from the competition and look more appealing.

    Giveaways

No post will have as much engagement and reach as the one which offers something for free. You have probably seen plenty of contests on Facebook where the page asks to share, like, comment, tag, etc.

Some individuals like to exploit it and run fake giveaways, not giving the prize to the winner after the whole thing is over. However, these things tend to reach daylight, and you can forget about having any positive reputation afterward.

    Facebook Groups

Another method to diversify your business and expect user-generated content is by creating a Facebook group. It is a place where everyone can share the information, invite others to join, and so on.

The biggest advantage of a group is that organizing a discussion is much easier. Similarly, you should consider creating a subreddit. Reddit is one of the most popular websites on the internet, and while it is not considered social media, it is still a good place to advertise yourself.

    Continue to Learn

Just like any other thing on the internet, Facebook will continue to evolve and change. In order to not fall behind the competition, you need to be at the top of the game. Therefore, make sure that you are up to date with any changes or new features that get implemented.

As things stand right now, Facebook is without a doubt one of the best websites on the internet when it comes to running a marketing campaign. Even if a page might not seem like a direct business technique to regular users, you, who is behind it, should understand the pros and cons of it.

And following these tips makes everything much easier!

  • How Can You Use Facebook to Market Your Business?

How Can You Use Facebook to Market Your Business?

Gone are the days that you had to channel a lot of cash to marketing campaigns. The most unfortunate part is that the return on investment was usually not worth the while. New forms of marketing, more so, digital marketing have saved the day. Businesses are not stuck to the ancient marketing techniques that were not only financially draining, but also did not have good tidings.

Business owners are encouraged to have a presence on at least one social media platform. Facebook being one that hosts most people, provides you the perfect opportunity to market your brand. Here are tips on how you can use it to promote your business.

    1. Have a business page

Most people get lazy and rule out the idea of creating a page specifically for their business. Your personal page will not cut it.

A business page has features designed to make your marketing easy. Also, you will have a section where you can share your detailed business information. That is your location, contacts, website, and other relevant information.

Read of the day: Do you know what is the differences between ads manager and business manager?

    2. Promote your page

How To Promote A Facebook Page

Creating a Facebook business page is not enough. You need to start working. You will be working so hard to create content.

However, you need to note that it will only pay off if people get to see it, and that will not happen until you start promoting your Facebook page.

There are so many ways through which you can approach this. You can invite people to like or follow your page. You can also use Facebook advertising through Facebook Pages.

Also, it will not hurt if you used traditional forms of marketing like business cards to create awareness of your page. Include your Facebook page in your business card alongside your website and email address.

    3. Post regularly

    Post Facebook Content Regularly

The agenda of marketing your business is making it the first thing that crosses the minds of the customers when they come across a product similar to the one that you offer. The trick is to stick in the minds of your audience.

Posting regularly will do the trick. Do it as frequently as you can. At least once in a day. The moment you stop posting, the customers will forget that you exist.

You should, nevertheless, not compromise quality for frequency. Ensure that your posts meet the needs of your audience. In so doing, it won’t be long before they start identifying with your brand.

    4. Work with influencers

How To Work With Influencers On Facebook

Influencers are yet another powerful tool that you can use on Facebook to market your business. All you need to do is find an influencer in your niche and create a relationship with them.

This will help you reach bigger audiences and grow your customer base from the influencer’s loyal following.

    5. Engage your audience

Engage With Your Audience On Facebook

For successful marketing on any social media platform, you need to humanize your brand. There is no better way to go about it than through engaging your audience. Engaging and interacting with your audience will make understand that your focus is not only on making profits but ensuring that their needs are being met too.

Engaging your audience will give you the opportunity to understand the challenges that your customers are facing. Also, you will find suggestions that will help you better your brand. Do not ignore private messages. Set aside some time to respond to them.

    6. Track your performance

    Track Facebook Page Performance

There are tools that have been designed to help you monitor the progress of your social media marketing campaigns. A good example is rank tracker tools, which can help you establish how your content ranks against the competition. Is it essential? Well, it is the only way to know if your efforts are paying off or you need to go back to the drawing board.

If done right, marketing your business on Facebook can be rewarding. Employ the tips listed above, and you will have a lot to smile about.

  • Discovery: Teens Now Are Using Instagram More Than Facebook

Discovery: Teens Now Are Using Instagram More Than Facebook

Move Over Facebook And Snapchat. Instagram Is Dominating Teen’s Life Now

Recent survey had shown that Instagram is the king when it comes to teens. In other words, Instagram is the number one go-to social media platforms for teens.

Piper Jaffray has been tracking how teenagers use the internet for nearly twenty years, and the second report of this year has some interesting findings indeed.

There are some important (shocking) takeaways in the survey conducted:

    • 85 percent of teens report using Instagram at least once a month, up from 79 percent in the fall of 2016
    • 84 percent of teens report using Snapchat at least once a month, up from 80 percent in the fall of 2016
    • Just 36 percent of teens report using Facebook at least once a month, down from 52 percent in the fall of 2016

Now, it is important to understand that the this survey was done back in 2016 and 2017.

We are now in 2019 and take a look around.

Businesses are going to Instagram-able products (with no exceptions for the food and beverages). Social media influencers are using Instagram more than ever … to grow their target audience and to encourage conversions.

But, Instagram is not alone in the race

Instagram Social Media Race for Teens

Snapchat is still gaining traction especially with 46% of teen’s social media usage, followed by Instagram with 32%, Twitter at 6% and Facebook at only 5%.

Here’s an important note. There are more teens using Instagram on a daily basis but when it comes to the teen’s preferred social media platform, they still prefer Snapchat.

This particular survey revealed the reason behind the seeming disconnect.

Instagram is the social media channel of choice when it comes to brand engagement of teens, with an overwhelming majority of teens preferring to be contacted by brands via Instagram.

Snapchat knows this —and trust me that they are doing everything they can do improve the numbers.

Snapchat is basically a social media platform that allows users to do a lot of cool and short videos … and they get automatically deleted after a certain amount of time.

On the other hand, Instagram allows teens to publish videos, photos and even auto delete videos/photos (just like Snapchat does). More importantly, the constant updates on Instagram allows it to surpass Snapchat in numerous occasions … which indirectly allows Instagram to dominate the teen’s social media preference.

    Snapchat needs to domore

Unless Snapchat makes a major misstep in handling that segment of the demographic, they’re unlikely to lose them in the longer term.

Moreimportantly, Snapchat also faces strong competition from Facebook especially with the bastion of older users. In most cases, mom and dad check their Facebook accounts while teens check Instagram.

How can businesses market effectively to teens?

Marketing is all about reaching the right target audience using the right platform.

If you are targeting teens, you should well aware that both Snapchat and Instagrams are going to dominate the market for a long, long time.

If you don’t have a robust presence on Instagram and Snapchat (for this matter), then your social media isn’t doing as much for you as it could be.

Finally, this leads us to one last question.

What are you doing to make sure you are doing whatever it takes to market successfully to teens?
